Midweek Outlook (11/04/2007)

Manchester United vs Roma
Champions League Quarter-Final 2nd Leg

"Roma cant do a Milan on us.."

- Gary, 9/4/2007

Calamity!! The result open up the title race. Man Utd were too complacent despite dominating the game. Look like Roma's result have an effect on it. Without Vidic, Ferdinand look lost and conceded a comical own-goal.

Kudos to Portsmouth for taking the game against Man Utd. They were desperate for a result as they have only won 1 game in 2007. Man Utd's target of winning all away games to claim the title has suddenly become unrealistic. With Everton, Man City derby and Chelsea decider, it looks tough on paper. Man Utd just love to shoot their foot. Donno how many times in this season, they could have claim more points and sew up the title or qualify the Champions League knockout round. Guess the only reason Fergie could come up is the team is still learning.

For Roma's game, we have 2 things to our advantage. An away goal and home record. Man Utd have not lose at home for Champions League games this season. So this game pretty even up the equation. Man Utd's poor away record against Italian teams = Roma's poor away record against English teams. Roma's home form = Man Utd's home form. Conspiracy? Let you guys decide. Another thing that tip to our favour was Roma cant do a Milan over us. Milan killed off the game in the 1st leg at Old Trafford in 2003.

Roma is without the services of Simone Perrotta. While Paul Scholes is suspended for this tie. Lucky for him, he only suspended for 1 match. Scholes's replacement in Fletcher or Richardson looks lightweight. Saha will be on the bench again. Gary Neville is out but will be back for Sheffield United tie. Park Ji Sung, Vidic, Silvestre is still out.

Odds and Analysis: Man Utd giving 0.75 at 1.975. This odd seem to following me for quite awhile now. Again, I will go for Man Utd win and proceed to the semi final showdown with Bayern.

Disclaimer: The above views are purely my own two-cents' worth. In other words, I cannot and will not guarantee that my predictions are accurate. If you want to bet on the game, do so at your own risk. Also, please bet responsibly and within your means regardless of how "sure thing" that game may appear to be. As the old saying goes, "The Ball Is Round". Good luck.

Like I said, with only 6 games to go, we need to really secure maximum points in the next 2 games coz of the Curse of The Last 4 Games where ManUtd always buang at the last hurdle.

Yeah, let's hope they don't make any bundles like what they did in Fratton Park.

Cheers.

Jiahao: Considering the circumstances that we were in prior to the game (in particularly playing 60 minutes with 10-men on a Euro game), I think we are being too hard on the team. Spurs were in the same situation as us but do we hear anyone berating Spurs for their loss?

I am going to jump to Fergie's defence on this one.

Granted it was disappointing to lose but the Fratton Park and Redknapp combination can pack quite a punch. I salute Redknapp for making most out of a favourable situation.

Cool: Yes and after that 1 more win should seal the title for us as I have said earlier that at this stage, I am guessing another 9 points will be enough.

However, this will be a very difficult 9-point target to achieve where we have West Ham and Sheffield United fighting against relegation, Everton fighting for UEFA Cup and of course Chelsea for the EPL title.

I forsee Boro to be the easiest game as the Teesiders have nothing to play for at this stage.
